With the wedding season creeping upon us there is never more of a time when we need our make up to last from morning till night. If you are one of the guests likely to be in most of the photographs snapped on the day then you will want your face to look just as glam as the outfit you spent so much time putting together. So if it is the wedding of the year, a day out with the girls or that perfect night out follow the basic steps bellow to achieve base perfection and a long lasting look.
Step 1.
Lightly moisturise and work in your favourite cream, take a little time and use circular motions to fully blend the cream into your face. Try not to use an overly oily cream as this can cause your foundation to slip. Let the moisturiser settle for a few minutes before moving onto step 2.
Step 2.
Choose a good foundation, Estee Lauder Double Wear Light is pretty good for long lasting wear. Use the long flat side of a triangular applicator sponge and press the liquid into your face starting with the cheeks, dab in circular motions and work the liquid into your face, blend outwards to avoid make up lines. Remember to smooth around the jaw and ears under the chin and bring the foundation down on to the neck and chest. NB – dabbing or patting the sponge on to your face across the T-zone provides a better coverage and will keep the make up in place for longer. Sweeping the make up will only aid in redistributing the foundation away from were you need it to be the most.
Once a smooth even base has been achieved it is time for the concealer. A product that works well with Estee Lauder foundation is there smoothing creme concealer. Start under the eyes using a lighter liquid concealer doing so will offer good coverage and act at brightening the eye area and making it appear clearer. Use the tip of the sponge and gently dab under the eye taking it on to the top of the cheek and blending up the cheek bone following the contours of your face. This will not only blend in the concealer but add definition. Use the excess liquid on the sponge and dab onto the eyelid and brow bone this will aid in keeping your chosen eyeshadow in place. See steps a, b and c below
Step 4.
Apply a loose translucent powder such as Rimmels Silky Loose. Use a large round brush all over the skin using sweeping circular motions, Bobbi Browns blush brush is very soft and perfect for this. Brush off any excess powder still visible on the skin. Remember to work the powder down to the neck and chest.
Following these four simple steps will help you to create a flawless base for the rest of your make up and will mean that you will be set to enjoy the rest of the day and night without worrying if your make up has melted away to nothing.
